Mizar Clock
Construction
The inner hand marks the hour, and the outside one the minutes. Both of these pieces blend perfectly with the decorational wooden panels adorning the back of the clock. The panels also help to give more stability to the ceramic plate, which has to be fixated on the wall. The plate has a matte finish as well as the wood to not steal the users' attention too much from the room but to remain as a conversation starter.
Goal and Approach
The concept was born with the intention of blending a functional piece with art, minimalism, sustainability, and adding to the value and meaning of a traditional clock resting on a wall and being rarely seen or used. The name "Mizar" comes from two stars that orbit around each other, just like the two wooden hands orbit around the center plate with decorational but also functional purposes.
Software
Fusion 360, Keyshot, Procreate, Adobe Photoshop
The Mizar Clock is a multipurpose piece of furniture capable of transforming any in or outdoor space and adding modernity and refinement value to the room or place where it is displayed. Its modern and minimalistic forms camouflage the real purpose of the design object. To the bear sight, it seems like a beautiful art display, but when the spectator pays real attention to it, the piece transforms into a ginormous clock with both of the wooden hands moving around the same axis, marking which time it is.
